Bar der toten Tiere 2025

Bar of the dead animals

Event series

A unique location, themed drinks and an animal masked ball at the end: the most bizarre bar in the city opens its doors in the week of the Old Year.

Sipping fine drinks amid historic dioramas, chatting in historic exhibition halls, enjoying live concerts, or joining a rave at the museum: our “Bar of Dead Animals” has offered all of this in past editions. It has long since established itself as Bern’s favorite end-of-year “zoo” for night owls. Anyone who steps inside enters a realm where museum rules melt away, shadows purr, and glasses clink like swarms of insects.

And since animals are known to adapt, so does our bar: each edition unfolds anew. Sometimes we nestle in narrow exhibition niches; other times we spread out like a peacock in mating season. Every year, our program is tailored to the spaces the museum happens to make available—or those that are currently empty and crying out for the buzz of new life.

The varied music program offers something for all dance enthusiasts and party animals. And, as is tradition, the Animal Masked Ball takes place on the final evening, December 30.

The 2026 program will be published in November.
